Thousands of people gathered in Ivrea, Italy, Sunday, February 23, to engage in the Battle of Oranges, the highlight of the town’s carnival. Amid the new coronavirus outbreak in the region it has been unclear whether the event was going to take place.
The mayor of Ivrea said about 15,000 people participated in the event, which was a major public health concern.
Despite the concern, the event will continue until Tuesday. (AP)
