Passenger on coronavirus cruise turned away from five ports says ship mood is 'anxious'

Passenger on coronavirus cruise turned away from five ports says ship mood is 'anxious' A retired US doctor on board a cruise ship that docked in Cambodia last week after being turned away at five other ports said the mood on board was "very depressive" and "very anxious" in a video he filmed today.

Nearly 200 passengers from the Westerdam have returned to their home countries, with another 300 passengers slated to fly off from the country's capital, Phnom Penh to Dubai if they test negative. An American woman who had been on board tested positive for the new coronavirus.

The vessel spent two weeks at sea after being turned away by Japan, Taiwan, Guam, the Philippines and Thailand even though the ship said there were no coronavirus cases aboard.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said samples from the remaining passengers were being flown by helicopter for testing in the capital, Phnom Penh. Once health officials have confirmed negative results, the tourists will be allowed to disembark.
