Path cleared for T-Mobile's $26.5b purchase of Sprint A federal judge has cleared the path for two of the four largest U.S. wireless carriers to merge. T-Mobile wants to acquire Sprint at a cost of $26.5 billion. The combined company would be the country's second largest cell phone carrier, behind AT&T and just above Verizon.
