When choosing your style, there are 2 popular ways to look at it.
A. Do what you love - If you always wanted to be an audiobook narrator, do that. Or a video game voice actor.
B. Do what the market hires you to do - Dive into each style and see what the market hires you for.

If you are building a business, then you need to temper your own desires with those of the customers. What good is a business that no one purchases from?
However, you should be striving to grow in the areas that you love and continue to find ways to do that work.

What if I just want to be a video game character actor? That’s awesome. Just be aware that certain areas of voice over, like many other things, can be more difficult to get into than others.
Most video game developers work with agencies to help them with their voice actors. Most of the voice over industry has really opened up away from representation, but video games are really controlled by mega brands that will work with agencies and studios. So, that is the route you should go if you want to break into that industry.
But there is one equalizer that never existed in the past that exists today. THAT IS BRAND!
Creating a brand today has the power to catapult you and your voice over career to heights never imagined possible. Look at how many super famous artists there are that started on YouTube or Instagram and are now household names.
