The Oregon House Judiciary Committee holds a public hearing on HB 4122, or Ezra’s Law, which would create longer prison sentences for a criminal act that reaches an aggravated level of permanent physical injury, which is defined as injury that permanently and significantly impairs a person's cognitive functioning, vision or hearing, or ability to walk, breath, eat, or move the person's limbs. Committee chair Rep. Tawna Sanchez, D-Portland, said the 2020 Legislature would not be acting on the bill.
