Paul Anderson performs a series of William Marshall fiddle compositions during Celtic Connections Paul Anderson, the 'Tarland Wizard' of Scottish fiddle, performing a series of compositions by famous Scottish Composer and fiddle player William Marshall (1748-1833). For this rare performance, Paul was given special permission to perform using William Marshall's own fiddle, which is kept half a tone flat of modern concert pitch to reduce the tension on the body, which is strung with gut strings. The tunes are "The Marquis of Huntly's Snuff Mill", "The Marquis Of Huntly's Farewell" and finally "Miss Hannah of Elgin" (aka Miss Hannah's Jig.)

This was part of Paul's 'Music of the Masters' concert on Tuesday 29th January during the 2020 Celtic Connections music festival. The concert was a rare opportunity for Paul to perform music by iconic Scottish fiddlers, played on the composer's' own rare violins, accompanied by world class multi-instrumentalist, Brian 'Beard' McAlpine on piano.
