For my milestone 190th review (I’m not counting multi-album reviews, I know), I’m gonna be taking a look at the new BTS album “Map of the Soul: 7.” With the rise of K-Pop in recent years, BTS has been the biggest group to emerge from the ever-growing movement. With massive Top 10-peaking singles like “Fake Love,” “IDOL” and “Boy With Luv,” the Bangtan Boys have been gigantic in the worldwide growth and recognition of K-Pop as a genre. With all that said, this album is my first real experience with the boys outside of a few of those big singles, and I got a little nervous when I saw that the album would be 75 minutes spread across 20 tracks (even if, to my knowledge, a number of the tracks were already released). Does BTS overcome the “long album syndrome” and put together something pretty special with this album? Honestly, I think they did! I was very pleasantly surprised with this album, and I quite loved it!!! Favorite tracks: Intro: Persona, Boy With Luv, Make It Right, Dionysus, Interlude: Shadow, Black Swan, My Time, ON, UGH!, 00:00 (Zero O’Clock), Inner Child, Friends, Respect, We are Bulletproof: The Eternal, Outro: Ego
Least favorite tracks: Louder than bombs, Moon
Rating: Excellent
