Light over dark with coloured pencils on Pastelmat

Light over dark with coloured pencils on Pastelmat One of the things coloured pencil artists find challenging is being able to layer light over dark. It's a case of planning most of the time and keeping your light areas clean of pigment.

But with Clairefontaine Pastelmat you can get light over dark - and many coloured pencil artists are now trying pastelmat with that in mind.

In this video I show you how light over dark can work extremely well to help with highlights. The best white I've found is the Caran D'Ache Museum Aquarelle White - a bright white that really does show up over darker colours.

If you'd like to see more of my tutorials, real time with full voice over then have a look at my Patreon channel - I've got hundreds of hours of coloured pencil tutorials and you'd also join a fabulous community of artists, all helping and supporting each other.

Materials I've used:
Clairefontaine Pastelmat board in Dark Grey and White
Faber Castell Polychromos
Caran D'Ache Museum Aquarelle
Caran D'Ache Pablos
