Coronavirus fears grow as UK measures moves into phase 2 from 'contain to delay' CORONAVIRUS cases have topped 100 across the UK after 31 new positive tests in the last 24 hours.

It comes after Britain's top medic warned the spread of coronavirus has 'next to no chance' of being stopped as the Government is forced to step up its response to the disease.

Professor Chris Whitty, chief medical officer for England and Wales today said the UK has 'mainly' moved into the second 'Delay' stage of its fight against the disease.

This means health chiefs believe it is inevitable the virus will spread across the country and efforts will be made to slow it down, rather than stop it.
