When I started my first business, I created my business based on what I thought other people would use and what I thought would make money. I didn't do it because I was passionate about it.

What I've learned through my business ventures is that it is best to do something you are extremely passionate about. Even if you work hard on a business idea it is very likely that it will fail. My first business I worked extremely hard on and worked 16 hours a day for about a year on it before really seeing some sort of results. I grew to love doing the work because of the idea that I was creating something from nothing. That is how I was able to sustain working such long hours with no results. However, looking back on this I learned that there is a much easier way to start your business and that is to follow your passion.

From this experience I learned that in order to start something successful, you have to do what you are passionate about. If you do what you are passionate about, you aren't doing it for the money and you would want to work on it even if you got paid nothing. That is the only way you can work on something for a sustained period of time for hours and hours a day with no results. Turning a passion into a business is the best way to start a company because then you aren't driven by making money and immediate results. You are driven by the fact that you love it. Most people get discouraged and give up on a business when they don't see the results they were expecting. However, by doing something you love, you won't get discouraged when you don't see money/results right away because money isn't your driving force.
